About The Hip Art Collective

 

The Hip Art Collective began, like most great plans, over brunch. The dancers got together and talked about their dreams for the dance community. Together they started making plans for the types of shows they wanted to have and the performances they wanted to create together. With a lot of hard work, and a lot of brunches, the Hip Art Collective performed at Cairo in Columbus together for the first time in 2016. From there, they have been unstoppable!

 

All of our members, Liila, Athena, Eliz and Badieh Farasha, are professional belly dancers with styles as unique as their personalities. Combined they create magical performances and a surplus of shimmies. We are known for dynamic and creative choreographies that use a wide variety of props, performing in multiple styles from Egyptian to vintage American cabaret style.

HAC believes that the best art and community come from collaboration and cooperation. To that end, we participate in bellydance events across the region and public events in our local community, We also have built relationships with a number of groups, including Najla Dance, Sacred Shimmy Studio, Electro Cult Circus, Zikrayat Photography, and many others. 

 

In addition to creating dances, HAC is also deeply committed to create great events for our community. Our team works independently and in collaboration with other organizations to build events for the community, including Shimmies for Kitties, HAC Presents, Belly Laughs, and ZAKA Bellydance Music Festival.
